Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota

Yesterday afternoon, we spontaneously drove to Providence, Rhode Island, not even an hour away from Belmont. The city reminded me of St. Paul, with its stately residential buidings and small concentration of skyscrapers. The Providence River snakes through downtown, slower than the quick current of the Mississippi River, but Chris even commented that he expected to look out on the river and see Harriet Island. Chris and I wandered to the shopping center, to the State House, where an international festival was winding down, and to Waterplace Park, where the river bulges outward before narrowing again. Below are pictures of the State House and Waterplace Park which apparently hosts gondola rides.
