World Record

I wonder how big this dog is now...

"The Heaviest Dog title rests with Kell who weighed in at 286 pounds in August of 1999. This English Mastiff has a 32-inch neck. Think about that for a second - 32 inches is a standard waist size for a man! Proud owner Tom Scott said Kell is two years old and is expected to continue to grow for the next two years. Kell needs to be fed 100lb of beef every week and drinks gallons of goats' milk to stay healthy..."

The Sun (Finally)

This weekend, spring arrived in Boston. Yesterday, Chris and I prepped for a grueling hike in the Blue Hills, only about 20 minutes from our house. We read reviews, packed a backpack and loaded Greta into the car. Unfortunately, the hike ended up being more of a leisurely walk. We climbed to the observatory point on the highest hill for a panorama of Boston, but the only other output of the day was slobber marks all over the car windows from Greta pressing her nose and tongue all over the glass. Below are a couple pictures from the so-called summit:

Today, we went to church and did a bit of shopping. But for the rest of the day, I've been doing homework. Chris washed, waxed and detailed both cars and took Greta on a long run. (He makes me look like such a slacker.) Here's a photographic depiction of the past few hours:

Hope you had a great Easter! Chris and I had a relaxing weekend. On Saturday, we visited Boston's Museum of Fine Arts and breezed through most of the exhibits. My favorite painting on display was Houses at Auvers by Vincent van Gogh, pictured below:

Chris' favorite was The Taking of Christ by an unknown artist (done in the style of Caravaggio).

Later, Chris and I walked to a nearby park and threw a softball back and forth - I'm always itchy to play softball in the spring... except it was COLD. Sunday, we went to church and heard a great sermon and then ate at an Indian buffet. And what am I doing right now? Procrastinating on a five page paper due tomorrow - better get started.

Resurrection Weekend

Two days ago, I parked the car in front of the house, thankful to be home from work. As I walked up the porch steps, I noticed purple tulips popping up in front of the shrubbery. Chris and I are renting the first floor of this house, and I know the upstairs neighbors did not plant the bulbs. I think back to the first flowers Chris ever gave me, almost five years ago: purple tulips, and now here they are again. They are a neat connection to each other and to whoever planted them - a small reminder of beginnings and endings as Chris and I prepare to leave this house within the next couple months. The flowers are also a symbol of new life, even more poignant on the weekend commemorating the death and resurrection of Christ. So, Happy Easter to our family and friends. We miss you.
