The Big Christmas Update

Our long-awaited Christmas vacation has already been relegated to a collection of photos and memories. I can’t recall a single moment of hunger over the course of the trip since we were constantly encompassed by a vast array of food.

Leckrone Christmas
We spent December 21 through December 26 with Chris’ family in Lafayette, Indiana, which included gatherings for both the Leckrone and Pettit branches. We ate pizza at Arnie's, circled the giant Christmas tree downtown Indianapolis, slept in, opened presents, etc. The big news eventually trickled out that Chris’s sister Allison and her husband Rob are expecting their first child in August. This will be the first grandchild!

McRoberts Christmas
Chris and I flew to Minneapolis on December 26 and celebrated Christmas with several more family gatherings. On my father's side, I had not seen one of my cousins in over two years. All five great-granddaughters were present, tearing around the house. We played pool with my parents and brothers one night and were also able to visit with friends: We tested out Jim and Joelle's new Nintendo Wii and ate out at a video arcade/circus-type restaurant with Audra and JP.

New Year's
Chris and I cheered in 2008 surrounded by Allison and Rob, all of my brothers, Bonny and both nieces. Jamie let Varsana and Malia stay up until the ball dropped and drink a glass of sparkling grape juice, courtesy of Allison. We almost missed our 6:30 a.m. flight the next morning after we hit our alarms – we bumped ourselves to the front of the check-in line, fidgeted through security and ran to the gate just before the airline staff allowed stand-by passengers aboard. We “rescued” Greta from the pet-sitter – she looks a little more wild-eyed than usual. We're back at work today - I think I’m going through Christmas cookie withdrawal.
