Birthday & Memorial Day

I hit the big 3-0 on Saturday. Having just returned from almost a week of traveling for work and being pregnant, I was happy to celebrate quietly with Chris. We ate out at my favorite sushi restaurant for lunch (I got a cooked roll) and then at 112 Eatery in downtown Minneapolis for dinner.

On Sunday, we carpooled with Jamie, Varsana and Malia to my parents' cabin near Alexandria and spent the afternoon fishing, biking and playing horseshoes. The weather was perfect: sunny with an ebbing breeze. Chris, Varsana and I caught several large-mouthed bass, and Chris also reeled in a couple Northerns. We let them all go, as my mother had already prepared a great meal for the evening. Today, we attended the Memorial Day service in my dad and grandfather's home town of Herman. Jamie is going to send me some pictures of the service and from the cemetary roll call afterwards.

We are remodeling our kitchen to create more cabinet space and facilitate an open floor plan. It's tough operating without a functional kitchen. We have access to our refrigerator and microwave, but otherwise, we are washing our dishes in the bathtub. In addition, most of the other rooms in our house are stuffed with out-of-place furniture/utensils and covered in a fine layer of dust.Greta has been having a particularly difficult time adjusting to the upheaval, especially since Chris and I have both been traveling for work the past couple weeks. She tore apart the laundray room a week ago, and two days ago when we ran out of the house for ten minutes and left her in the bathroom, she ripped up a roll of toilet paper and kleenex box and emptied the trash. I hope this isn't a precursor to what we should expect when the baby arrives.

I want to see pictures of the remodel. When are you going to post those?
